Back to School

We are already back-to-school!  Here are some pictures from the kids first day.  They are excited to be going to the same school now.

Our first homeschool day went pretty well yesterday, although I threatened at one point to send each kid to public school, 5 days a week, if their attitude for schoolwork with me did not improve...Not my finest moment of the day!  Hopefully tomorrow they will get more in the groove!

Happy 5th Birthday Caleb!

After attending a friend's rock climbing birthday party recently, Caleb decided that was how he wanted to celebrate his 5th birthday.  We have not done birthday parties away from the house with any of the kids yet, but we thought...he's 5...that's a big one and he was SO excited about the thought...we had to do it!

Caleb and his friend showed up in the same shirt!

Special treat - Grandma Katherine was here visiting and got to celebrate Caleb's birthday with us this year!

On his actual birth "Day", we had a small family party.  Below are pictures from that night with the Currys.

Caleb had a great birthday!  Thank you to all of you who celebrated with us or sent presents/notes/cards to wish him a great day!

Olympic Fever!

Ella's sweet Olympic journaling page - She drew a picture of herself as a gymnast on the uneven bars.  This is what her page says "I want to be a gymnast for the Olympics.  I will do flips for the crowd.  I will wear a pretty suit.  I will win a gold medal and a trophy.  The crowd will cheer for me and I will thank them.  Every day I watch the Olympics.  I think it is fun.  I like the gymnast girls best.  I love the Olympics.  I love USA.  It is great.  I love God.  I am a Christian."

Roscoe the Robot

I have started collecting/saving recyclable material over the past year and it came it handy today.  I save large oatmeal cylinders, boxes, yogurt containers, egg cartons, milk jugs, spice containers, lids, etc. and throw it into a big box and keep it out in the garage.  Many times the kids drag it out and just start creating.  They came up with this idea today to make a robot.  I had to help a little with covering him with foil.  I think he turned out great!

Little By Little

Here is a recent video of us in the car.  They are singing a song Caleb learned at preschool for his end of year program.  He taught it to Ella and Silas.  Then they do a silly saying for a while after the song...but after that, Jeremy asks them what they are thankful for.  Silas first answers "daddy's truck".  Ella answers "Jesus" and then changes it to "the cross".  Silas pipes in again to say "for Jesus dying on the cross".  So proud of our little 2yr old to put that together!  This is a long video, so if you want to hear the "thankful"part, skip to 2:10.

The Making of Flynn

Caleb and Ella got invited to a good friend of ours daughter's birthday party.  It was a Rapunzel birthday party.  I had something that Ella could wear, but I needed something for Caleb.  He had to go as Flynn!  I got half price fabric to make a vest and satchel.  These were only my third and fourth things to make on my machine, but it was fun and it turned out great...at least for a little guy!

Petting Zoo

We visited a mom's group this week that was hosting a traveling petting zoo.  The kids got to hold lots of fun animals.

Caleb though this bearded dragon was the coolest!

Silas was not happy holding any of them besides the bunnies.

No way!  Get this off me!
