Ready for summer swimming!

Earlier this month we took the kids swimming for the first time this summer season at our pool here in our neighborhood. They were very excited about it and had a great time. Ella is still pretty timid about getting water in her face. Caleb is definitely more daring and will probably be our little swimmer.

Just this past weekend, we went to the Barton Springs Pool in just south of downtown Austin. Even though it is known for very cold water, the kids loved it. Caleb cried as we left...he didn't want to get out. We thought the pool was very nice and definitely want to go back!

Our Family of Birds

We have a family of birds that lives on our front porch during the the spring and summer. We think they are swallows, but we are not sure. Last year, they built a mud nest right on the side of the wall. It was a great spot for them really, nothing could get into their nest. We do not think they ever used it last year, though. Most of the time, they sat on our porch light instead of the nest. This year, they came back and fixed their nest up and the mom sat in it for a long time this year and the dad would sit above our door watching. We supposed there were eggs in it, but it is so high, we couldn't see into it. But, just this week, four little baby birds poked their heads over the top chirping for food. The kids were thrilled to see them. Here are a few pictures. This is the mom and dad last year.
Here are the baby birds about a week ago.
They are already getting bigger and will probably start leaving the nest soon. I am glad our kids don't grow up and leave this fast!

Wildlife Ranch

On Jeremy's birthday weekend, we traveled down to San Antonio to the Wildlife Ranch and then stopped in to see Jeremy's Aunt and Uncle. The kids really enjoyed seeing all the animals. I think the giraffe was their favorite.
Had a hard time getting them to both look at the camera and smile! Stinkers!

They have a little goat petting zoo which the kids loved. They both kept trying to feed the goats hay.
This picture makes me laugh...Ella looks a little nervous to turn her back away from the zebra. Not sure what he is going to do...

Easter

I realized that I did not put a post on here about Easter. We had a nice week talking about what Easter means. We did our Resurrection Eggs, read the Easter story multiple times, decorated cookies and dyed eggs. We spent the weekend up in Plano visiting my family. The kids absolutely enjoyed hunting for Easter eggs and were actually quite good at finding them. Here are a few fun pictures.
